DIY Nail Polish Organisation

nail polish organisation

The small nail polish collection I have all reside in a small drawer beside my bed. The bad thing about this is that it takes a long time to find the colour I’m looking for. I have to lift each one up to see if that’s the colour I’m looking for and it’s all just a hassle. So I thought wouldn’t it be great if I could see all the colours I have right there in front of me, so here I am blogging about my recent DIY project.

It really only took about 30-40 minutes, obviously depending on the size of your nail polish collection. For this you need blank, white labels. I found big rectangle labels lying around, I simply used this and cut them to small square pieces. You have to make sure they are small enough to fit on the lid of the nail polish. I recommend getting those circle shaped white stickers, they would be perfect for this and would look a lot neater. After, simply swipe the nail polish colour onto the labels, wait to dry and then stick it onto the lid.

Some tips;

– Use paper to protect the table you’re working on.

– Be prepared for nail polish all over your fingers.

– An alternative to using sticky labels is using paper and putting stick tape on top to attach to the lid. Although this will take longer

There you go, something so simple but will make your life a lot easier.

Review: Ed Sheeran’s MULTIPLY

20140626-202111-73271596.jpg
So about a week ago, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran released his second album, Multiply (X). I’ve been in love with this album from the moment I first listened to it. There are like a bunch of catchy tracks that’ll get you up and doing some cray-zay moves! Haha anyway, this album, in my opinion, is a bit more mature than his debut album. And by that, I mean a tad bit more explicit. But it works for him and gives off an edgy sorta vibe!  So I’ve decided to highlight our favorites from Ed’s album:

  • Don’t– This song is unbelievable catchy. And explicit.  It’s about an unnamed and unknown ex who cheated on him. It’s awesome and I’m loving it.
  • Nina– This song is all about how fame can get in the way of your personal relationships. And also seriously catchy.
  • Runaway– It has got some serious sass to it!
  • The Man– I love the beat, the rapping and the words to this song. You just can’t help but sing to it.
  • Afire Love– This song is beautiful; it makes me sad every time I hear it. It has a deep meaning, similar to Small Bump from his debut album. It’s been said that this song is about Ed Sheeran losing his grandfather to Alzheimer’s when he was a boy.
  • Take It Back– Yet another catchy song with an acoustic beat!

These are my favourite songs from X, and I strongly advise that you listen to Ed Sheeran’s album! Let us know what you think and tell us your favourite tracks in the comments below. We’d love to hear your opinions!

What we used:
-Ulta3’s ‘Hollywood’
-Boe Beauty’s ‘Green Valley’
-Boe Beauty’s ‘Ballet Pink’
-N.Y.C’s ‘Blue Bottle’
-Dotting tool

1. Using the Hollywood nail polish, paint two coats on your entire nail.
2. Go over the nail again with the Green Valley nail polish, but leave some of the blue nail polish visible.
3. With the Ballet Pink nail polish, go over the middle of the nail, leaving the blue and green visible.
4. Last but not least, using the Blue Bottle nail polish and a dotting tool (see our dotting tool post) and dot along the white nail polish.

Organisation Tip: Rolling vs. Folding

image

Im sure everyone has had the dilemma of full, crowded drawers. Having to stuff everything into one drawer. Folding everything neatly but still running out of space. Well rolling is your answer. As seen in the above picture just the simple task of rolling clothes and packing them neatly in a drawer can save a hell of a lot of space. Before, this drawer had the same amount of clothes all spilling out and I used to always have to dig for my clothes. But now I can see each item clearly and even have space for more. So try this quick organisational tip and see how it works out for you!

DIY Photo/Memo Wall

Want an easier way to show of your memorable photos and easily be reminded of your events or things to do. Or just need some creativeness in your house. Try out this fun project that only takes an hour and is super cheap.

What you need:

  • Photos
  • Clips (can use anything to hang photos, I used Foldback clips)
  • Removable Hooks (can use nails or screws)
  • String, Wool, Ribbon
  • Superglue (optional)

How:

  1. Decide on your design. I went for the simple zigzag, but there are many you can do.
  2. Place dots with a pencil where you are going to place the hooks. I used removable hooks in case I needed to change anything and I didn’t really want to put holes in my wall.
  3. Place your hooks, nails or screws. With the removable hooks I had, I found that the pads where you put the hooks on were not sticky enough and I figured the hooks would probably fall of if I put something heavy on. Therefore I decided to put some superglue to the hooks to connect them to the pads. This gives a nice strong hold.
  4. Attach the string. On the first hook I circled around the hook a few times, so it wouldn’t slip of. After that I simple circled around the rest of the hooks and made the zigzag pattern I wanted.

TIPS

– Make sure when you’re putting on the string you make it as tight as possible as the photos will bring the string down, making it looser.

– Leave a tail of string at the end in case you want to change your display around.

– To decorate you might want to put ribbon around your string.

– You can hang photos, memos, notes, invitations and stuff.

– Have fun with it and make it your own.
